Farmers Weekly unveils new series of ‘farming breeds’

Farmers Weekly has unveiled a new collection of “Farming Breeds” – irreverent pieces taking a tongue-in-cheek look at characters in the countryside.

We all know such characters, after all – whether it’s the machinery dealer, the newbie vet, the naked calendar ladies, the local gossip or the retired army major.

The new “breeds” include the bachelor farmer who “demonstrated rather too graphically the workings of his Victorian raddle harness when Antiques Roadshow came to the local market town”, and the machinery dealer who might enjoy a bit too much booze at Lamma but remains convinced he “can sell sand to the Arabs”.

We’ve decided it is time to bring back the series, so you can find all of 10 new “breeds” plus the previously published 30 here. They’re all accompanied by illustrations by popular cartoonist Jake Tebbit.
