Photo of the Week: FW in Iceland

Farmers Weekly community editor Lizzie and her partner, Dale, visited Iceland last week to tour the Golden Circle and take part in horse riding – they even managed to catch the Northern lights!

It’s great to see the Boots and Heels hat going international!

But it hasn’t all been play and no work: Lizzie, along with Livestock editor Rhian Price, recently visited Jack Bradley, a dairy farmer from the UK who moved to Iceland in 2019.

Mr Bradley shared his experience and talked about the challenges and benefits of farming in the land of fire and ice

During this trip, Rhian and Lizzie also met UK sheep farmer and world-record sheep-shearer Marie Prebble, who frequently visits Iceland to help across farms and demonstrate her skills. Watch the video.

Finally, the pair spoke to Icelandic farmer Heida Gudny about international on-farm challenges.

Ms Gudny also explains how she has been forced to sell her 500-head sheep flock in the face of hikes in feed and fertiliser prices. Read the full story.
