Photo of the Week: Spooky Halloween pumpkins a treat for sheep
We all love a Halloween pumpkin lantern, as do the sheep in Photo of the Week.
The National Museum of Rural Life in East Kilbride in Scotland has hit upon the excellent idea of asking visitors to donate the Halloween lanterns and turnips after the spooky season to their sheep and Tamworth pigs.
It’s all in an effort to help reduce food waste.Â

Apparently around 18,000 tonnes of uneaten pumpkins are thrown away each year.
More still are left outside in gardens, woods or farmland where they can pose a risk to wildlife like hedgehogs.
From Saturday 1 until Sunday 9 November, visitors can drop off their pumpkins or turnips at a designated donation point inside the museum where they will be distributed to the historic working farm on the site.
If you’d like to send your photos in of seasonal pumpkins, or anything farming related, you can upload you photos to the Farmlife Framed photogallery.
Our annual photography competition is also running, and is open to entries.
