Photo of the Week: When farmers do fireworks
Good to see young farmers keeping traditions alive by celebrating Guy Fawkes Night.
The photo was taken by Sam Reece at Pencombe YFC’s fireworks display on 1 November in Herefordshire.
The fireworks and bonfire night is an annual event that attracts many locals. “We try our best to put on an amazing display!” says Pencombe YFC chairman Archie Roberts.

Each year the club members pick a new theme for the display – this year was Back British Farming – and the event was held in a local farmer’s field in Thornbury, just outside of Bromyard.
The professionals at Dragonfire were in charge of the pyrotechnics, which were watched by 500 members of the public.
Club members all got stuck in organising the evening, from serving food and drinks and selling raffle tickets to helping with car parking.
The raffle raised money for the club’s chosen charity, the air ambulance. “This is one we believe can help farmers as we often work in isolated places if they unfortunately do need it,” says Archie.
“We raised £470, which included prizes and vouchers kindly donated by local businesses.”
If you’d like to send us your photos of seasonal fun, or anything farming related, you can upload them to the Farmlife Framed photo gallery.
Our annual photography competition is also open for entries until 21 November.
