Photo of the Week: Silage season then and now

To celebrate Farmers Weekly‘s 90th birthday, we have picked these two silaging photos sent in to our Farming Memories gallery.

On the left is 1967 near Crieff in Perthshire, submitted by Billy McTavish. It features his father and colleagues putting their new Massey Ferguson 165s to the test at the silage.

On the right is 2024 in Stromness, Orkney. It shows Shannon Foubister’s partner, Daniel, mowing first cut silage in his modern John Deere at Brettobreck Farm.

We’re wondering who had the best silage…

Thanks to both Billy and Shannon for sending in their photos. To upload your farming memories go to our gallery.
