Royal Welsh Show luminary knighted in Queen’s Birthday Honours list
A former chairman of the Royal Welsh Agricultural Society has been knighted in the 2007 Queen’s Birthday Honours list.
Meurig Rees was recognised for services to agriculture and to public life in Wales.
The pig sector has also done well with three key figures in the industry being rewarded for their efforts.
British Pig Executive chairman Stewart Houston received a CBE for services to agriculture, Richard Cambell of Assured British Pigs an OBE and Frances Slade of Ladies in Pigs an MBE.

Julia Sturrock, for services to the environment and to sustainable development in Scotland.
Dr Malcolm Wakerley, technical support and research manager at DEFRA.

Morgan Evans, auctioneer, for services to farming in North Wales.
