Russian minister to visit UK

JUNIOR DEFRA minister Lord Bach is to meet with the Russian minister of agriculture, Alexei Gordeyev, this week during a brief visit (Mar 23 – 25) to London .

Top of the agenda will be agricultural issues affecting Russia’s admission to the World Trade Organisation, but it is understood that Mr Gordeyev is keen to talk about other policies as well, reports ITAR-TASS, the Russian information agency.

Policies such as: economic measures designed to boost competitiveness in the agriculture and food processing sectors as well as ways to achieve sustainable development in rural areas and the implementation of social programmes in these areas, will also be discussed.

Aside form his meeting with the minister Mr Gordeyev plans to visit the Chelsea flower show.
