15,000gns top at Genetic Elite

IMG_4997 15,000gns web.JPGThe first daughter of Flevo Genetics Snowman to be sold in the UK topped the Genetic Elite sale staged by Holstein UK at the Bristol Sale Centre.

Consigned by Crystalclear Holsteins and Manorhaven Holsteins, the six-month-old Crystalclear MH Christmas Snow is out of the Lylehaven Lightening dam Larcrest Chessa. The sale topper had the highest GTPI in the catalogue and was bought by Peter Horrell, Peterborough at 15,000gns.

The choice of two of Observer’s sisters resulted in Devon breeders John Pyne and Sons paying 8200gns for BB Alexander Georgia 2nd ET to add to their Postlake herd. The October-born heifer calf is by Golden-Oaks St Alexander and is the first daughter of De-Su Oman 6121 to be sold in the UK. Consignors were BB Farms, Abergavenny.

Mr McAufield from Co Antrim invested 8000gns in D W and C E Jones’ Wiltor Atwood Sharon – a high genomic type six-month heifer (3.63 PTAT) and from the Shottle family. Her dam is the Sandy Valley Bolton cow Washfold Bolton Sharon 2nd that cost 10,500gns at the 2010 Black and White sale.

The Henry family from Co Down added the November 2011-bred Wiltor Observer Shelley to their Horizon herd at 7000gns. She is also out of the Washfold cow.

Averages: Eight cows and calved heifers £3583; three served heifers £2607; 38 maiden heifers £4172 and 35 embryos £627.
