2000gns champion at Beeston

A small entry of just 52 cows and calved heifers for members of the Western Holstein Club were entered for their early January sale and of course were confined to those members who reside outside the bluetongue restricted zone.

Judge for the day was Lyn Davies who runs the Meurig Herd at Carmarthen and for his champion he selected Townhouse Jupiter Eclipse 246th, a grand daughter of Comestar Outside, from SFR Farming Ltd of Tarporley. In reserve was Lachstone Trader Winny from John and Jeremy Platt of Northwich.

Trade was reasonably good considering a small entry never seems to attract the distance buyers in any numbers. Top price was 2000gns for the champion purchased by the judge. Next top was 1850gns which was for the reserve champion purchased by D H Willes and Partners, Clitheroe, Lancs with two others selling at 1800gns from the Ewloegreen and Fieldside Herds respectively.
