3,500gns high at Dorset dairy sale
Dairy trade topped at 3,500gns last week (30 July) at the dispersal of the Adair family’s 500 head dairy dispersal at Hewletts Farm, Stalbridge, Dorset.
Realising the top price was a Shower Red yearling heifer with a PLI of £121 and from nine generations of Ex or VG dams.
Ten further lots from this commercial herd sold in excess of 2,000gns to a top of 2,200gns on two occasions for Altaross Marjorie 121st and Twist Mischa 2nd that sold freshly calved having been purchased as bullers. On the day the 45 calved heifers averaged an impressive £1,700.
Dairy cows sold to 2,100gns for IAHMayfield Winsconsin Mia Red the Red and White fresh second calver with other Mayfield bred cows purchased from the Pirbright herd dispersal last autumn at 2,050gns twice.
The homebred commercial 3rd calver that was giving 53kgs sold for 1,850gns.
The Vortex bred bulls from local breeder Alan King realised a high of 1,500gns for Vortex Lancia.
The red and white in-calf heifer IAHMayfield Winsconsin Robin R Red due August sold to 1,600gns.
