4,000gns high at Angus autumn show and sale

Females released a fantastic trade at last week’s Aberdeen Angus autumn show and sale with a top call of 3,600gns for females in the dispersal of the Catrionas Herd.

Leading trade for the Cartionas herd dispersal was Edward Penty’s cow Catrionas Eve D129 by Hoff Limited Edition and out of S A V Emblynette 9511. She sold for 3,600gns to A Shufflebotham, Cheshire and pd’d in calf to Oak Moor Dragoon J015. Eve and was described as ticking all the boxes for fertility, low birth weights and is probably one of the most consistent breeding dam lines in the breed.

Her heifer calf, Cartionas Even sired by Yearsley Primetime F058 went on to sell for 1,400gns to H W Sclater, Aberdeenshire.

Mr Shufflebotham also bought the next highest priced female at 3,200gns. Catrionas Ebony by Yearsley Mr Ambassador and out of Cartionas Eve D129 was sold Pd’d 2.5 months in calf to Oak Moor Dragoon.

The next female in the money was Catrionas Rose J395. By Krugerrand of Donamere and out of Ingrams Rita 6N18 this one was sold PD’d 2.5 months in calf to N Cowap, Crewe, Cheshire. Mr Cowap also secured her heifer calf Catrionas Rosie M338 for 1,800gns.

Bulls

Bull prices topped at 4,000gns with Gretnahouse Blackgame from A G Houston securing the top price. This one is by Blelack Kanasta Lad G191 and out of Blelack Blackbird H949 and sold to G W Green and Sons, Wooler Northumberland.

Next in the money at 3,000gns was J A Price’s bull Oakchurch Fabregas L030. By Netherallan Peter Pershore E052 and out of Southfield Forthuna, this one headed home with J R Errington, Brampton, Cumbria.

J R Errington also purchased the next highest lot for the bulls the reserve supreme champion Netherton Blackford at 2,100gns. Consigned by W and D McLaren this one is by The Moss Mr Eshton D409 and out of Netherton Blackbird J524.

At 2,000gns was Tree Bridge Phonic L318 from D and P A Evans. By Chapelton Dark Mahmoud E826 and oit of Jerusalem Pride D088 this one headed to Galashiels with W and L A R Montgomery.

Ribble Herd.

The production sale of the Ribble Herd on behalf of Rowntree Farms results in a five top prices of 2,000gns.

First in the money was Fordel Enniskillen H512 by Idvies Fullback E250 and out of Fordel Empress selling to D W Clement and Sons, castle Douglas.

Next was Ribble Black Belinder by Tui Tidy Ben and out of fairoaks Black Belinda T56 to Jenkinson, Kirkby Stephen, Cumbria.

The Jenkinson’s also bought three other lots for 2,000gns.
