£6000 “virtual” Texel tops Kelso auction
A call of £6000 for a Texel shearling was enough to top the first “virtual” ram auction held at Springwood Park, Kelso last Monday.
The top spot was taken by the Texel Hexel Maverick, from Donald MacPherson, Berwick and sold to Jonathan Watson, Berwick. Sired by straidarran Legacy, Maverick’s dam is by Baltier Icatcher. The same vendor also sold another Texel to Neil Crichton, Berwick for £1050, while Jonathan Watson sold one for £1020 to Messrs Linkwater, Newcastle.
John Elliott, Roxburgh Mains sold a Texel for £600 to Messrs Lambie, Edinburgh.
Bluefaced Leicester rams sold to £800, when an entry from Mr Sinclair, Jedburgh, sold to Mr Loader, Kelso, while Lleyn’s also sold to £800 when a ram from Kevin Stewart, Kelso sold to Hollydean Farms, Selkirk.
Charollais rams sold to £500 when Mr Whittaker, Jedburgh, sold one to Creswell Farms, Northumberland with unregistered Suffolk rams topping at £420 (Auctioneers Border Livestock Exchange).
