Store lambs met a flying demand at Saturday’s Tenbury Sheep Fair, with the 1822 lambs on offer selling to a top of £64.50 and levelling at £51.80 across the board.
Topping the sale were Berrichon cross strong stores, while the first prize pen of Suffolk sired lambs from M S, J D and N J Ward, Eastham, realised £58.50. The second prize pen from the same home made £58.20 and the third prize pen from High Oak Farming, Heightington, sold for £55.80.
First prize in the Continental crosses went to W R and M R Preece and Son, Pesteigne, these sold for £53. Second place were E W and S E Morgan, Little Hereford, which sold for £55, while in third was J W Merrick, Leysters, with a pen which realised £49.50.
A limited entry of breeding ewes sold to a top of £99 for three and four lamb Suffolk x Mule ewes. Suffolk cross shearlings, meanwhile, sold for £96.
