8250gns for Lleyn yearling ram sets centre record

A bid of 8250gns was the price paid for a yearling ram, setting a new centre record at the lively Lleyn Sheep Society sale, Ross on Wye.

 

Bred by Emrys and Dylan Jones, Lluest Wen, Machynlleth the ram by a Wynne Davies ram sold to Derek and Cindy Steen, Whitcastles, Lockerbie. His dam was one of the first crops of lambs by Ballylinney Action Man.

 

Females from Lluest Wen had a strong performance with 71 yearling ewes averaging ÂŁ137 and the top pen reaching ÂŁ152.

 

A pen of five yearling ewes from John and Gill Adams, topped the females at ÂŁ154 a head. These ewes head to Measham Lodge Farm, Leicestershire.

 

Averages 1303 MV Accredited yearling ewes, ÂŁ112.64; overall averages for yearling ewes were up ÂŁ29.19 on the year
