9000gns top call so far for Carlisle Beltex

Topping the trade so far here in Carlisle is the male champion from Steve Gibbons. Llwynbrain Mallet is by Black Mountain Haymaker and out of a Llwynbrain Turbo daughter. He sold to Richard Findlay, Yorkshire.

Then at 3500gns was the best from Jock McMillan’s Clary pen, this one, Clary M60 is by Clary Kaiser Chief and out of a Glebe daughter. The Clary pen continued in fine form, with another at 2200gns, this was a Viagrow son out of Clary Hip-Hop, a Headlind Ee By Gum son. This was Clary Muscle Man.

And at 2000gns was another from Clary, this time Clary M59. This is a full twin to the 3500gns sheep.

Earlier at 2500gns was the top priced aged ram Cookstown Leo 7 from John and Heather Barclay. Bred by Jim Elliot, this is by Cookstown James and out of Cookstown Jane, an Elbert daughter. He sold to the Pamplin family, Northamptonshire.

Besides these select few there’s been little trade above the 1000gns mark and the while the commercial men are definitely paying 500gns plus, they’re not pushing the boundaries as they have in past years and are being selective in what they buy.
