American breeders to judge native breeds show

Two distinguished breeders from across the pond are set to act as chief judge and assistant at tomorrow’s Shropshire Sheep Breeders Association’s Western Show and Sale.

Former American Shropshire Registry president Fred Groverman from Petaluma, California will act as chief judge, while US Shropshire breeder Cody Hiemke from Stoughton, Wisconsin, will act as his assistant.

The show, at Shresbury Auction Centre, will feature 200 sheep, 40 cattle and 16 pigs from across the country.

Shropshire Sheep Breeders Association president Pippa Geddes said:  “We believe Fred and Cody are the first overseas breeders in the history of the association to have the honour of judging one of the society’s national show and sale events.”

The show starts at 9.30am, and the sale will commence at 10.30am.
