A female record price was set at the annual Society spring show and sale of Aberdeen Angus Cattle on Friday 25th May 2007.

Selling for 10,000gns was the days female and supreme champion an incalf heifer, Rawburn Black Cherry, shown by Borders breeder John Elliot of Kelso.

Sired by the highest performance proven sire in the breed, Rawburn Transformer, and out of a Tofts Laird bred mother, Black Cherry sold in calf to the 30,000gn Netherton Figo. Successful buyers were GR & SC Brooke of Malton, N.Yorkshire.The next leading price was 5,000gns achieved by two bulls on offer. First to be sold was the 23 month old entry shown by Dumfriesshire breeders M& S Wilson & Sons of Newbank, Moffat. Newbank Blackbud a son of Glenmoy James Eric and bred from a Mushroom Friar Fergus sired mother, he was knocked down to Douganhill Farms of Castle Douglas.

Also going for 5,000gns was another James Eric son offered by the Wilson family. Newbank Emblem, out of a Cardona bred mother, has travelled to West Yorkshire for Denton Park Estates.

Middlesbrough breeders D & PA Evans sold Tree Bridge Eastern an April born bull going for 4,300gns. A son of Skaill Delta and out of a Midwestern X21 of Tullyfergus sired mother, he was sold to JF & S Heath of Cowdenhull.

The first entry from Ayrshire breeders PH & RM Close of Girvan sold for 4,200gns. Balsar Kainan Max, sired by the imported sire GT Maximum and out of the New Zealand bred dam Fossil Creek Kirsty, Max was knocked down to M & JS Youdan Ltd of Barnley Dun, Doncaster.

Another entry from the Newbank stable for Messrs Wilson also reached over the 4,000gn mark. Newbank Proud Islander, a James Eric sire line and Friar Fergus dam line, he sold for 4,100gns to J & J Scott, of Skelmorlie, Ayrshire.

The sale included the annual female sale from Mrs Holliday of the Dacre herd based near Harrogate. A heifer and calf outfit, Dacre Princess a daughter of Dacre Keystone, and heifer calf sired by Rawburn Duke Argyll, sold for 5,000gns to go with the Black Cherry heifer purchase for GR & SC Brooke of Malton.

Another Princess family member from the Dacre herd sold for 3,000gns. A daughter of Netherton Fabulous Cruz, and selling with her Lancer sired bull calf at foot, the outfit was purchased by W Forsyth of Newton Stewart.
