Abbotsley Jerseys sell to 2400gns top
Last week’s dispersal of the Abbotsley herd of Jerseys sold to a high of 2400gns, with this price paid for fresh second calver Abbotsley Sambo Goldie.
She is a daughter of Lester Sambo off an Ex91 classified daughter of Classic Rochette Invincibull. She sold in a joint deal between Richard Saxby, Long Preston, Skipton, and John Dickinson, Scaftworth, Doncaster.
Not far behind at 2380gns was another Sambo daughter, the fresh third calver Abbotsley Sambos Opal whose dam was Abbotsley Boys Opal a former breed champion and Burke Trophy winner at the Royal Show. She sold S and S Murray, Wolverhampton.
Sambo daughters continued to dominate the top prices when the fresh second calver Abbotsley Sambos Melanie sold for 2100gns to G A G Evans and Son, Guilsfield, Welshpool.
The only other to animal to make 2000gns was the outstanding in-calf heifer Abbotsley Liberations Galaxy, a daughter of Raughton Liberation out of a Sambo dam. She now joins the herd of S and S Murray.
Calves sold to a top of 1350 gns for January born calf Abbotsley Charmers Jojo. This one is a daughter of Classic F O G Charmer out of a VG87 dam by Abbotsley Zebres Rocky and was purchased by Sally Parfitt, Wells, Somerset.
Averages; 108 cows and milking heifers ÂŁ1145.18 (including 28 heifer calves at ÂŁ478.50); 14 in-calf heifers ÂŁ1065.00 (Wright Manley).
