Aberdeen Angus bulls to 8000gns at Borderway Mart
A top price of 8,000gns was paid for the Aberdeen Angus bull Hallington Julius Eric L314 at the breed society’s spring fixture at Carlisle.
This Netherallan Peter Pershore son stood supreme champion and was consigned by north-east breeders Alan Lawson and Son. He heads for Aberdeenshire with buyers Schivas Estates.
Leading Aberdeenshire stock breeders Neil F Massie and Sons also achieved a leading bid with a son of the Netherallan sire when their Blelack Entertainer L797 made 7,000gns to Bury, Lancashire buyer J Walsh.
Another son of Peter Pershore came good for Gordon Brooke, Berwickshire when his Linton Gilbertines Pride M604 made 6,800gns to M and S Westcott, Minehead, Somerset.
Hallington Prelude M346 is also by the Netherallan bull, and made 5,800gns for Alan Lawson and Son. Buyers were D Kibble and Son, Midlothian.
York-based herd owners V and P Dobson sold Water End Mr Blackstock M099 at 5,300gns. By Blelack Evergreat he goes to Crosbie Bros. Glencaple, Dumfries.
Midlothian breeders Ross Farm Co sold Roscoe Earthquake L452 at 5,000gns to Messrs Kibble while the bid was matched by J Hodgson, Penrith for Border Lyne Jake L123 from local breeders Mr and Mrs D Story.
John Elliot sold Elliot Rosebud L279 at 5,000gns to head the females. This in-calf heifer by Elliot Elmer was bought by Gordon Brooke.
He also gave 4,500gns for Rawburn Lady Ruth L245 – also from John Elliot – an in-calf heifer by Lockerley Legolas that was female champion.
