Aberdeen Angus females break breed record at Perth Sale

Yet again the McLaren family stole the show at Perth with their sixth matron sale from their Netherton herd.

The highest bid came from John Lascelles, Carnoustie, Angus and owner of the previous male champion, who paid a new female Aberdeen Angus breed record of 30,000gns for Netherton Missie A114.

One of the most admired females offered on the day, Missie is by Netherton Fabulous Cruz and out of Missie Y288. She sold having been flushed 10 times giving 48 embryos, of which eight were retained by the herd.

Next to sell big was Netherton Blackbird B172, this time a May 02 female by Netherton Lord Jock. Having been flushed twice giving eight embryos, two have been retained by the herd. She now joins Dunira Estate, Creiff.

Of the 16 forward, the McLaren family broke the 100,000gns mark and averaged 6158.82gns.

Of the show females offered, Bill and Sarah Reid sold their reserve champion female Muirhall Gastura for 4800gns to Messrs Henderson. This Hayrish Paragon yearling sold with a terminal sire index of +22.
