Abergavenny tops at 235p/kg for Limousin steer

Leading the 17 cattle forward at Abergavenny Market’s Christmas primestock Show and Sale was a classy Limousin cross heifer from Messrs G E phillips and Son, Penrhos, weighing 595kg. She sold to the judge Doug Willis, Cwmbran at 218p/kg.

But it was the reserve champion which topped trade selling at 235p/kg. The Limousin cross steer from Messrs G Sevenoaks and Son, Crosh Ash also sold to the judge. The well supported sheep section saw regular vendor Chris Ball, Abergavenny take both the champion and overall tickets with his Texel cross lambs.

His champions weighing 42.4kg sold at 224p/kg (ÂŁ95) to robert Clode of the Cripple Creek Inn, Raglan. The reserves sold for 175.5p/kg (ÂŁ66) to Weeks Wholesale Meats, Cardiff.
