Angus bull sells for record half share £20,000 to Northern Ireland

Selling for £20,000 and what is believed to be a record price for a half share purchase in a yearling Aberdeen-Angus bull is Luddenmore Eclipse J067 from Limerick, Eire-based Dr Michael and Martin Sheahan.

The bull, which was sold at just 10 months old, is by the noted performance sire and Idvies stock bull Rawburn Rommel E423, is out of Netherallan Elba F057, who secured the top price at the Netherallan dispersal in 2007 selling for 8000gns at 10 months old. She is an ET daughter out of the US performance sire Vermillion Payweight out of the renowned Youngdale Elba family.

New half share owners are James and Bill Porter of the Old Glenort herd, Lisburn, Co Antrim, Northern Ireland. Speaking of his purchase James said: “The power and performance that Eclipse has, makes this bull very special indeed. With an actual recorded weight of 465kg at 202 days and 652kg at 300 days, he is a young bull that combines muscle, power and structural correctness with amazing bone, he will no doubt make a great impact on both herds.”

Eclipse has already caught the eye of many breeders in the Republic and North of Ireland and he was given the title of Club calf champion this year.
