Animated store cattle trade at Carlisle

A mixed selection and all classes short of requirements meant another animated trade at Borderway Carlisle’s weekly sale of cattle.

More than 100 buyers were in attendance to see the 767 head of cattle go under the hammer.

Store cattle trade proved robust with all vendors leaving satisfied with returns.  The top call of the day was £1,380 paid for a Limousin bullock from Messrs Dickinson, North Netherscales.  Heifers peaked at £1,180 for a Charolais again from Messrs Dickinson and bulls sold to a high of £1,185 paid for a Limousin from Messrs Cockburn, Kingside Farm, Peebles. 

The centre’s weekly sale of calves saw a smaller entry of 209 forward.  Continentals saw an increased ring side of buyers with new faces in attendance.   

A top of £415 was achieved for a Limousin bull calf from F G and S M Lough, South Lough House, Stamfordham.  Black and white calves were still a good trade with 35 active buyers bidding for calves.
