It look’s likely that following the ceasing of the Royal Lancs Show recently, the Shropshire and West Midlands Show is likley to follow it.
The Shropshire and West Midlands Agriculture Society, the organisation behind the show has been placed into voluntarry liquidation following difficulties paying its bills.
The Society has experienced financial problems amid the recession and the economic crisis and demands from suppliers for up-front payments in advance of events being held were impossible to meet, said the Society.
The loss of a show is of course a sad day as it is one less chance the industry has to connect with its end consumers. However, what is clear is that to survive in these increasingly trying times shows need to ensure they offer something to their exhibitors and visitors whihc they can’t get elsewhere. That coupled with prudent financial management is key to their survival.
