Taking the supreme championship was the steer champion, Limousin Jager Bomb from Tecwyn Jones, Ty Newydd, Conwy

This was Mr Jones’ third championship title at BeefExpo and follows another supreme championship win with Bomb at the Shropshire Show.

This one was bred by M W Jones, Plasynllan and is by Saphir, a French Limousin bull, and out of a Limousin cross British Blue cow. He was bought at the Ruthin show potential sale in February and will be heading to the Royal Welsh and Limousin Society Show at Carlisle. He weighed in at 487kg.

In reserve was winner of the heifer championship, Just 4 Play. This 552kg Limousin cross heifer was put forward by Messrs Sedgwick and Slack, Ricknall Grange, Co Durham.

She had been bought for ÂŁ6,000 at the Penrith Spectacular Sale in March and is by French Limousin sire, Rossignol and out of a pure British Blue cow.

Judge Keith Harryman said it was hard to split the two, but the bullock had taken his eye and tipped the edge over the heifer on the finer points.
