Dunbia looks for investors as route to expansion

Meat processor Dunbia is looking for investors to allow it to expand further.
The business employs 4,000 people across its 11 plants in the UK and Ireland and is the UK’s largest lamb processor.
It said this week that it had ambitious plans to grow and had received several serious expressions of interest from would-be investors over the past two years.

“We are now considering options for maximising the potential of the company going forward,” said a statement this week. “Market dynamics are continually evolving and we are currently exploring the best options to ensure that we are well placed to meet the demands of the marketplace, now and in the future.
“Whilst we are working on plans for the future, our focus very much remains on day-to-day operations and delivering a first class service to our customers – in other words, business as usual.”
Dunbia had a turnover of almost £800m in its last full year (to 31 March 2014) but pre-tax profits fell by almost £3m to £4.6m.
