Lightning kills cattle herd

A SINGLE bolt of lightning struck a herd of cattle in a field in Assing, near Herning in Denmark on Tuesday (August 17), killing 31 cows.

The Danish media have called it a very sad Danish record – and possibly a world record.

The cows had sought cover under a big tree during a storm.

A bolt of lightning hit the tree and killed all the cows instantly.

According to a report in the newspaper Berlingske Tidende, Guinness World Records‘s office in London stated it had never before registered so many cows killed by one bolt of lightning.
