Beltex ewe lamb secures 4,000gns
Last Friday’s (9 December) Beltex Society premier show and sale of in-lamb females saw the top price of 4,000gns go to a ewe lamb from the Buckles Flock.K & R Buckle, Barras, Cumbria, put forward Buckles Ribena ET and secured 4,000gns from RW Hudson, 5 Church Hill, Plumtree, Notts.
This March 2011 born lamb is a twin by Newton Leo and out of Buckles J20 – a full sister to the 4,200gns from Limited Edition, the 4,400gns Nashville Dreams, 1,200gns Newt, 3,000gns Puma and 2,000gns Popeye.
Other leading prices on the day included 2,200gns for a shearling ewe from A & M Dunlop, Broughton. Broughton Powerpuff Girl Blossom ET was bought by GC Burke, Cairndrum Cottage, by Edzell, Angus.
This one is by Airyolland Kingsize and out of Broughton KrazyChick. She took the title of overall champion on the day, and ran from 23 October with Clary Number One. She was flushed with four embryos retained.The Dunlops also achieved 1,900gns for another shearling ewe – Broughton Powerpuff Girl Buttercup ET. This one is by Airyolland Kingsize and out of Broughton KrazyChick. She was bought by G Pyman, Parkview, Stainton, Penrith, Cumbria.
