Bishop off to winning ways in Smithfield sheep championships

Andrew Bishop of Gloucester was off to winning ways in the first championship of the day in the sheep section here at Smithfield, clinching the Continental shortwool championship with his pair of homebred Beltex sired lambs which weighed in at 85.5kg.

Standing reserve in this section was John Hall, Carlisle, with the second place pair of Beltex which tipped the scales at 79kg.

In the Native shortwool championship it was a win for Malcolm Stewart, Brotherstone, Melrose, with his pair of Suffolk cross Texels which weighed 78kg, while reserve was Messrs Wakeham Dawson and Harmer with their purebred Southdowns which weighed 88kg.
