Bentham Auction Mart’s Annual May show and sale of store cattle saw an excellent quality show of cattle being placed before judges, Louise Todd, Market Rasen and Richard Winn, Boroughbridge.
A 14 month old British Blue x Limousin steer from Graham Jackson of Bentham was tapped forward as the overall champion, continuing Mr Jackson’s success from Bentham’s March sale were he also achieved championship honours. Bred by HR Hayton and Son, Asby Grange, the steer went on to achieve the day’s top price of £1080, selling to judge Louise Todd.
Reserve champion was a homebred nine month old British Blue heifer from Ian Rawlinson, Ulverston, which sold to Chris Hewitt for £920.
A total of 624 cattle forward met a brisk trade, with grazing cattle being particularly well sought after.
