Brecon Limousins sell to 8,200gns
An 8,200gns bid led trade at the British Limousin Cattle Society’s sale at Brecon on the weekend (8 November).
Overall, 26 bulls sold to average £3,891 – up by £141 on the year.
Sale leader was Garyvaughan Ifeild, a Plumtree Deus son out of the homebred Garyvaughan Elfie, from CV and EM Lewis and Sons, Buttington Cross, Welshpool. Purchaser was DJ Lloyd and Co, Trefeglwys, Caersws.
He took the championship in the pre-sale show under judge Adrian Jones, Llanbadoc, Usk.
Next best at 5,500gns was Glangwden Itunes from CL and FE Jerman, Glangwden, Trefeglwys, Caersws. This first prize senior bull is by the Objat-sired Powerhouse Emblem and out of the Haltcliffe Ullswater daughter, Glangwden Fleurette. He sold with a Beef Value of LM+33 to DI Roberts, Brooks, Welshpool.
Selling for 5,300gns was Loosebeare Ionesco. Born in May 2013 he is by the Sympa son, Aghadolgan Emperor, and is out of the Rainbow Simon daughter, Loosebeare Fiona. With a Beef Value of LM+41 he was the pick of GI Francis, Newtown, Powys.
The fourth lot in the ring, Mynach Igor, from ED Griffiths and Co, Cwmfelin-Mynach, Whitland, made 4,900gns when selling to the pedigree Gronw Herd of J and H Phillips, Cwmfelin-Mynach, Whitland. Sired by the Vagabond son, Greenwell Dreamboy, and out of the Sable-sired Mynach Aray, this January 2013-born bull had stood overall bull champion at the 2014 Brecon Stars of the Future. His half-brother, Mynach Harlequin,had topped the 2013 corresponding sale at 9,000gns.
Female trade was led at 2,500gns for Mynach Creole and her bull calf Deri Juice by Hatcliffe Blaze. Mynach Creole was bred by ED Griffiths and Co and sold by Mr and Mrs TB and CD Griffiths, Brynderi Llangain, Carms. Mynach Creole. She sold back in calf to Blaze and was purchased by DL Hughes, Madley, Hereford, who bought four further breeding females.
Averages: 26 bulls, £3,891; 20 heifers, £1,653; two cows and calves, £2,520.
