Bristol dairy sees 3000gns top call
Prices rose to 3000gns at last week’s June dairysale at Bristol, with the top price given by Wiltshire buyer C Morley, Calne,for calved heifer Marcroft BoltonPocahontas from Messrs Puddy, Highbridge.
She is sired by Sandy Valley Bolton out of 12generations of cows in the top two grades.
The Drake sired calved heifer SwallowdaleDrake Bluebell 141 from C Elmes, Swindon, then sold for 2400gns to P W and D PRound and Son, Gloucester.
The next highest price of 2380gns was paidfor a non-pedigree heifer from regular consigner Adrian Ractliffe, Gloucester,she was purchased by D Bennett of Caerwent, Monmouthshire.
Mr Ractliffe also consigned 2300gns heiferHaresfield Specialist Dewdrop purchased by Amos Partners, Ross-on-Wye,Herefordshire.
Best cow price was 2150gns paid by Messrs Roundfor second calver Dayhouse Specialist Carol from G J and F L Robertson, Wotton-under-Edge,Gloucestershire. She was out of a 10,095kg Comestar Lee-sired dam.
In-calf heifers from the Daniels herd of T HDavis and Son, Blakeney, Gloucester, sold to 1650gns twice, both beingpurchased by Welsh buyers.
First to go was Daniels Shottle Fiona 2 byPicston Shottle out of a 10,598kg dam which sold to G M, M and D W Morgan, LlantwitMajor, Vale of Glamorgan. The Burlane Tennyson sired Daniels Tennyson Innie outof a 12,586kg Ricecrest Marshall was purchased by W T R Parry, Chepstow.
