Brynfro Holsteins reach 2100gns high

The top price at the Brynfro Holstein dispersal for Daphne Major and her son, Tony, was a 2100gns bid for the third calver Brynfro Integrity Rosemarie 11 which had calved in February and was scanned 10 weeks in-calf to the Aberdeen-Angus stock bull.  She was giving 29.4kgs when sold.  Her sire was Gest Integrity and was out of a 10,469kg daughter of Gormal Bell Black.  The buyers were N W Williams and Sons, Usk, Monmouthshire.

The same buyers paid 1900gns for the sixth calver Brynfro Integrity Rumex 3 which had calved in March.

The second calver Brynfro Blackbond Essay sold for 1850gns to W J Thomas of Pontardulais, Swansea.  She had calved in May and was by Gornal Blackbond and out of a 11,326kgs Gornal Bell Black sired cow.

The same buyer gave 1800gns for her maternal sister Essay 4, a third calver by Gest Integrity. Served heifers sold to 1420gns, bulling heifers to 840gns, yearling heifers to 600gns and heifer calves to 520gns.

Averages; 58 cows and milking heifers ÂŁ1384.19 (including 21 heifer calves at ÂŁ472.50), 18 served heifers    ÂŁ1251.25, 26 maiden heifers ÂŁ585.17, one bull calf at ÂŁ241.50, one Aberdeen-Angus stock bull at ÂŁ1050 (Gwilym Richards).
