Carlisle British Blues hit 5200gns thrice
Bull prices at today’s British Blue sale at Carlisle reached 5200gns on three occasions, with the first to make this money being Bluegrass Dakota, an ET son of Harley Du Chateau Lebrun out of Ridge Dean Uptown Girl. This one, from the Raine family, has a carcass index of +13 and a pedigree index of +5. He sold to W P Hughes and Son, Holyhead.
The second to make this price was Greystone Escort from J and E Coates. This is a Greystone Atomic son out of Greystone Whisp, a Valide D’Al Gote daughter. He went to Messrs Mason and Gardner, Chapel le Dale, Carnforth.
And the final bull at 5200gns was Brennand Emperor from J C Walker and Son. Sired by Empire D’Ochain and ET bred out of Bringlee Sandy, he sold to T J Metcalfe, Clayton.
Selling at 5000gns was Tamhorn Egor from Danny and Jane Wyllie. This is by Ballygrange Alex and out of Hazelwood Wanda, an Arlequin Du Pre Rosine daughter. With a carcass value of +10 he went to W H Dixon, Haverfordwest.
Then making 4800gns was Greystone Dambuster, a Greystone Atomic son out of Greystone Uhu, an Adagio Du Stordeur daughter. He went home with J Barrie, Greenlaw.
In the females on offer the best price was a 2400gns bid for Stowbeck Carol, a Dafydd D’Ochain daughter out of Stowbeck Winnifred, a Tamhorn Sumo daughter. She was sold having been AI’d to Empire D’Ochain and went to David Ellis, St Ives.
After that at 2300gns was Denby Dreamer from Huw Roberts. She is by Gitan Du P’Tit Mayeur and is ET bred out of Ridge Dean Vervet. She was sold with a carcass value of +10 and in-calf to Bringlee Blackstar and was bought by T J Metcalfe, Clayton.
At the same money was Stowbeck Angela, another by Dafydd. She is out of Stowbeck Rosie, a Savant De Pierrecome daughter. This third calver sold with a bull calf at foot by Bringlee Volkawagon and went to W Robson, Bishop Auckland.
Best call in the ET calves sold on their recipient dams was a 2700gns bid for Astrics Flash, a bull calf by Volkawagon from R A Ashton. This August-born calf is out of Astrics Velvet, a Hazelwood Freshman daughter and went to Ted Haste, Devon.
Second best here was a 2500gns sale for Lukeroyal Fragrance, a heifer by Bringlee Blackstar from Mel Lucas. This September calf is out of Lukeroyal Winnifred, a Campagnard Et De Fontaine. She sold to R Darlington, Beresford Dale.
Averages;11 bulls £4085.45, two served heifers £2467.50, one unserved heifer £2100, one cow with calf £2415, two recipients with calves £2730 (Harrison and Hetherington).
