Carlisle Limousin females hit 6200gns

Last Friday’s dispersal of the Hazelhead herd of Limousins at Carlisle saw prices peak at 6200gns for April 2002-born cow Hazelhead Tipsy. This Ronick Iceman daughter out of a Fieldhouse Pilate sired dam was sold with her Sympa sired bull calf, Hazelhead Edward, at foot and sold to Messrs Ridley for their Woodhall herd.

Email L105 6200g.JPGThen at 4500gns was a Ferry daughter, Hazelhead Sheila. This March 2001-born cow is out of a Cannon daughter and sold to George and Pat Long, Amble.

And selling for 3500gns was Hazelhead Una, an August 2003-born Haltcliffe Novel daughter out of  aRoncik Iceman daughter. Una sold with her Greenwell Manager-sired bull calf, Hazelhead Edd, at foot to Messrs Steel, Wigton.

At the same money was September 2007-born maiden heifer Hazelhead Classy. this Sympa daughter is out of 4500gns cow Hazelhead Sheila and sold to Christine Williams and Paul Tippetts for their Wilodge herd, Shifnal, Shropshire.

On the same day Denis Bell dispersed his Ednaston herd to a top price of 5000gns. This top price was given for French cow Brigette. She was bred in Bazelat, by SCEA Cogne, and is by Uzan and out of Rejouie, a Nenuphar daughter. She sold to E Simms, Stockton Brook, Staffordshire.

Email L139 5000g.JPGMaking the same price was a Ric Rac daughter Ednaston Bacardi. This April 2006-born cow is out of Ednaston Romance, an Intoux daughter and was bought by Mark Phillips on behalf of a client.

Email L140 5000g.JPGThen at 3400gns was Parhouse Atilla, a December 2005-born cow by Millbrook Tanko. She is out of Nodriza, a Jupiter daughter and was bred by Tom Cheshire and was sold having run with Abel, to Clark Farms, Carluke.

The final call at 3000gns or above was made by Andrew Ewing for Ednaston Christina, a Limo Tanat daughter out of Parkhouse Velvet, an Ontario daughter. She sold having run with Manor House Cougar for 3000gns.

Averages; Hazelhead five cows served or suckling £4368, three maiden heifers £2520; Ednaston, 27 cows served or suckling £2119.44, 14 served heifers £1781.25, 10 maiden heifers £1197, two bulls £2047.50.
