Carlisle Mules in £400 centre record sale
Once again for at least the fourth time this week I find myself writing the words Mule and record in the same sentence, this time in reference to a new record set at Carlisle yesterday.
There, the Latter Fair sale saw 5530 Mule ewe lambs penned for sale and a top price of £400 setting a new centre record.
This price was paid for the champion pen of lambs which came from Neil Marston of Millstone Moor, selling to Roger Graves, Hesket Demain.
Reserve champion were a pen from John Smith-Jackson, Hightown, which sold at £240 to Messrs Jenkinson, Clifton Moor.
Other leading prices included a £205 sale for a pen from Messrs Moore, Highside, while the overall average for the day was a more than healthy £100.24. (Harrison and Hetherington).
