Charolais hit top price of £5250 at Holsworthy

Last week’s Spring Show and Sale at Holsworthy, Devon, held on behalf of the South West England Charolais Association, saw an explosive trade with a top price of £5250 going to the 16 month old bull, Balbithan Cosmo. He was owned by Mr and Mrs White, Swanage and sold to Messrs Brenton and Son of St Keyne, South Cornwall.

Mr and Mrs White also sold the 15 month old, home bred bull, Darcey, to Messrs Howard and Son, Devises for the next best price of £3727. This one was also reserve champion at the pre sale show.

Lovistone Chancellor, a two year old bull exhibited by Brian Nancekivell and Son, Merton sold for the third highest price of £3675. He was bought by suckler calf producer, James Medland of Tavistock.

Kivells auctioneer, Mark Bromell said the sale saw a fantastic line of bulls sell to a packed ring of potential buyers. “This created an explosive trade from start to finish.”
