Charollais ram lambs peak at 7800gns

 

3062012 Lot 151 web.JPGThe British Charollais Sheep Society’s premier sale at Worcester saw bidding reach 7800gns for a ram lamb from the Loanhead flock of Gregor and Bruce Ingram.

 

Loanhead Midas Touch, by Crogham Hannibal 2nd, is an ET-bred lamb out of a ewe by Foulrice Garcia. He was sold on the day to P J Wood, St Andrews, Fife but a half share was later bought back by the breeders.

 

Charles Sercombe’s pen produced the 6500gns ram lamb Dalby Malachite. The twin-bred lamb is by Dalby Lazelle and out of a show winning ewe by Dalby D’Artagnan.

 

3062012 Lot 108 webJPG.JPGHe was bought by a consortium of three breeders headed by Shropshire flock owner Robert Gregory.

 

A joint bidding deal by Welsh breeders Adrian Davies (Llandeilo) and David Curran (Brecon) secured Logie Durno Magnum from Willie and Carole Ingram at 5600gns (below). His paternal grand-sire is Southam Front Runner and he is out of a ewe by Rockvilla Golden Promise.

David Curran claimed the championship with his ram lamb Wernfawr Magnum. By Glantren Legend and out of a Rutland Domingo sired ewe, he goes to J D Corbett, Newent, Gloucestershire at 5200gns (below).

 

3062012 Lot 218 web.JPG The best from Myfyr Evans’ pen was the ram lamb Rhaeadr Minder taken at 4800gns in a joint deal between well known Charolais cattle breeder Esmor Evans from north Wales and Peter Vaughan, Leominster. The lamb is by Ballyhibben Klass Act.

Top priced shearling also came from the Rhaeadr flock. Rhaeadr Lord – also by the Ballyhibben sire – made 4000gns to Jonathan Wales, Carlisle.
