Commercial dairy trade reaches 2300gns
Commercial dairy cow prices continue to rise and at the dispersal of the Charles family’s herd at Frankley near Birmingham bidding reached 2300gns.
The call came from local buyers S and A May, Bromsgrove for a first calver that was due with her second to Joylan Roxell in August. The same buyers also gave 2100gns for a Painley Knightingale daughter that dropped her second last September but was still giving 35kg.
There was no shortage of bids over 2000gns: another Knightingale second calver made 2100gns to J G and C A Bayley, Nuneaton with Cheshire dairy farmers G and M Platt, Macclesfield giving 2050gns for a first calver due again in August. Served heifers reached 1550gns. Averages: 11 calved heifers £1593; 87 cows £1122; 12 served heifers £1345 and 17 bulling heifers £848. (Gwilym Richards and Co).
