Countryside Live:David Wadland’s Beltex pair scoops champ

Taking the sheep championship pair was Mr David Wadland from Northamptonshire with his pair of Beltex cross April born lambs weighing in at 82kg for the pair. These two were out of a tup that was bought at Worcester last September for 700gns. This pair will be shown throughout the show circuit over the next month, with the next stop Agri Expo at Carlisle in a couple of weeks.

In reserve was Joanne Hall, Carlisle with her pair of April born Beltex Crosses. These two were out of a tup bred by Giles Copland of the ‘Orkney’ prefix and will also be on the winter show circuit this year and heading to Agri Expo next.


RESIZE21102012 Sheep Res Champ.JPG Speaking about his champion, sheep judge Andrew Atkinson said: “the champion pair were fantastic sheep to handle and were an extreme pair of butcher’s lambs, well finished with muscle, wide loins and good hind quality. They were a well finished pair.” He also said the reserve pair were a “tremendous pair”.
