Craven dairy auction realises top price of £2,300

Topping trade at Craven Dairy Auction on Monday (Jan 13) was David and Jill Pennock with their freshly calved heifer.

She made £2,300 when selling John Howard, Heslaker, giving over 20 litres a day.

 

Earning the second-best bid of £2,250 was the day’s champion from Robert Crisp, Calton. Sired by Garrison she calved 14 days ago and is currently giving 5.5 gallons a day. She headed to the same home as the top priced lot.

 

Andrew Jennings, who runs the Abbeyhouse pedigree herd at Fountains collected the reserve champion rosette for his pedigree heifer. Sired by Gillette Final cut and with four generations of VG or EX behind she sold to BH Wilson, York for £2,100, giving 32 litres a day.
