Croftends Candy takes Blue female championship in Carlisle

While Jonathan, myself and our trusty photographer Tim are wet through and incredibly cold in Balmoral, the spies are out in force at Borderway Mart keeping me up to date with judging results from the British Blue Show and Sale (we’ll be in full action tomorrow to keep you up to speed on trade).

Taking the female championship under judge Cornwall-based David Ellis was Croftends Candy, an ET bred December 2007 born heifer from J E Bellas and Son. This stylish black heifer was firmly marked in my catalogue let alone anyone elses. She is by Dafydd and is out of Lismannan Sally, a Philipper daughter, whihc makes her full sister to Black Beauty, a fantastic show heifer from 2007.

She’s also had a successful show season, having won a well represented calf class at penrith last year. Sisters have sold to 8500gns, so I wouldn’t mind betting someone has to dig deep for this one.

Standing reserve was Lakeview Dazzler from Gary Beacom. Sired by Blak du Baty D’Eprave, this black April 2008 heifer is out of Hazelwood Ursula who was purchased at the Hazelwood dispersal for 4800gns.
