Dairy trade hits 3000gns at Lanark
Friday’s inaugural Technicolour show and sale of dairy cattle at Lanark saw a brace of 3000gns calls lead the trade with the first at this money the overall champion from the Hunter Family’s LetterKenny herd, Shotts.
This one was Letterkenny Bullion B, a Firsth Bullion daughter. The other at this price was the third prize senior heifer in milk from Messrs Armour, Annandale.
Then selling at 2850gns was the reserve overall champion and first prize junior heifer in milk, Overside Shottle Peach 3 from W W Neilson, Strathaven. She’s a Picston Shottle daughter.
And then making 2650gns was the second prize heifer from the same class, one from Messrs Steel, Kepculloch. Third in this class, one from Messrs Neilson, Overside, then sold at 2300gns, as did a senior heifer in milk from Messrs Ralston, Rhoin.
Best of the day in the Ayrshires on offer was a 1950gns bid for the first prize heifer from Messrs Millar, Caldervale, while the top priced Jersey was a heifer from Messrs Hunter Clydevalley, at 1800gns.
