Dairy Event 2010: Get the latest feeding advice

Those looking for up-to-date advice on ruminant feeding should visit the Feed Science Forums at this year’s Dairy Event and Livestock Show.

A series of forums, to be held in a state-of-the-art glass-fronted area in the Feeds and Forage Zone, will offer practical advice to farmers, consultants and feed advisers and will encourage visitors to participate by using voting keypads.

Presentations will be given throughout the two days by some of the UK’s leading ruminant nutritionists and technical specialists. Eight subjects will be covered including nutrition for robotically milked cows, feeding to reduce saturated fats in milk and the benefits of red clover silage.

The speakers are experts in their fields and will give useful advice and simple “take home messages” on highly sophisticated areas, explains Mike Steele, British Society of Animal Science.

“Producers and their advisers can use this information to improve efficiency and subsequent farm profitability. It’s also an opportunity for scientists and farmers to talk so they can work together to solve some of the challenges facing the industry.”
