Olympic hero Nicola Adams joins Make Mine Milk campaign

Olympic gold medallist Nicola Adams has been announced as one of three women sporting champions set to star in the next Make Mine Milk campaign organised by Dairy UK.
The 20 year old, who became the first British woman to win a boxing gold medal at the London 2012 Games, made a guest appearance at the Dairy UK conference dinner on Tuesday 3 September.
She demonstrated her fighting skills by sparring with Dairy UK director general Jim Begg and explained she is happy to promote British milk as she fills up on cereal before every bout.
The other two sportswomen featuring in the milk campaign will be announced shortly.
Milk Marketing Forum chairman Sandy Wilkie said: “Nicola Adams is a cracking athlete and an absolute star. The Milk Marketing Forum is thrilled to have one of London 2012’s biggest talents fighting the corner for Make Mine Milk and it was clear the attendees at last night’s [Tuesday’s] dinner – most of whom were the leading lights of the farming world – thought the same.
“September’s advertising burst will be the last one you’ll see from Make Mine Milk and we want to go out with a bang. The campaign has been running in Great Britain since April 2010, funded by the MMF companies and the EU – but all funding runs out in October.

“We’re putting legacy plans in place for 2013 but really we want to maintain the momentum of Make Mine Milk by securing funding and bringing it back as soon as we can. To do this we’ll need support from the whole industry. As yet we’ve not received any funding from farmers but that would make all the difference – especially in terms of securing additional funds from the EU – and we want to see them get behind this campaign in the future.”
In September’s advertising (launching 17 September), Olympic boxing Champion Nicola Adams will be joined by two other gold medallists but Mr. Wilkie refused to be drawn on who they are at this stage, he said: “And as for the two other ‘golden girls’ that will be joining Nicola in the campaign’s final advertising execution, well you’ll just have to wait and see.”
