Demand for newly calved cows drives prices up

Newly calved stock were in demand at Bentham Auction mart last week, with trade topping at £2620.

 

Taking the top spot was Robert Butterfield with his GP84 second calver Ingleview Jordan Betty. This Roylane Jordans daughter is out of a Joylan Headliner sired dam that’s had two 10t lactations.

 

After seven days post calving, Betty is already giving up to 40l daily after giving 6898l in her first lactation. She heads home with Mr Jennings, Keighley.

 

Mr Jennings also purchased the top priced heifer of the day for £2400. The heifer, Berryholme Sept S Enid is by Pursuit September Storm from Francis Wright’s Berryholme herd.
