Dexter tops rare breed sale at Carlisle with £2,000 bid

A Dexter bull sold for £2,000 at Carlisle rare, minority and traditional breeds show and sale last Saturday.

 

March 2011 born, Harron Loyal Commando is by Harron Loyal Soldier andout of Harron Clueless. Put forward by Veronica Schofield of Beckside  Farm, Carlisle, he sold to Burnside Dexters, Burnside, Ascog, Isle of Bute.

 

A Longhorn cow from the reduction sale of the Clonyard Longhorn herd of Mrs P Pumphrey, Clonyard Farm, Colvend, Dalbeattie, then made the next best price of £1,300.

 

Clonyard Yuhina sold with her Cholmondeley Frederick sired heifer calf at foot, Clonyard Cockatiel. The pair join the herd of Messrs Dixon, Hillhouse, Mawbray, Maryport, Cumbria. Yuhina is by Bollin Eugene.

 

Then at £1,280 was Longhorn heifer Linnhead Damselfly from Miss AL Vaughan, Linnhead, Tundergarth, Lockerbie, Dumfriesshire. This Wellhead Grasmere Lad daughter is out of Wellhead Damson and sold to D I Metcalf, Garford Meadows, Marwood, Barnard Castle.

 

At £1,100 was Kerry Hill shearling ram Pentrenant 39479. He is a Woodhouse 2 38499 son and sold to the firm of A M Robertson, Birgidale Knock, Rothesay, Bute. This one was put forward by R F and D J Price, Pentrenant Farm, Churchstoke, Powys.

 

A longhorn cow from Mrs Nicky Luckett, Well Head, Mealsgate, Wigton, Cumbria, made the same money when selling to M I Gray, Craigmalloch, Barr, Girvan, Ayrshire. Wellhead Isis is by Wellhead Firework and sold with her bull calf at foot, Wellhead Micky.
