Dickens family sneak South of England commercial title
Mike and Jean Dickens, Milton Keynes, took the commercial beef title earlier today at the South of England show with a 670kg Limousin cross heifer named Sausage.
She was bred by the Scotts of Thirwell Castle and was originally purchased through Carlisle market.
Judge Stuart Clatworthy, Somerset, said the champion displayed everything he wanted in a beef animal, being full of flesh on the loin and backend without being overdone.
Standing reserve to Sausage was Kevin Ludgate’s British Blue cross Limousin steer Rolly Mo weighing in at 620kg. This one had earlier in the season stood champion at Hertfordshire County and reserve at last week’s Suffolk Show.
