Dingwall Angus and Continental stores in demand

With store cattle prices on fire across the country it is no surprise to see prices at Dingwall strong in yesterday’s special sales.

In the Aberdeen-Angus section steers topped at £1200 (258.1p/kg) for the champion, a 465kg steer from J G Grant, Gaskbeg, Laggan, reserve champion was another from the same home which sold for £940 at 480kg.

Other leading prices included steers from Springfield Croft at £950 and Wester Fearn at £990, while heifers were led at £865 from Culrain Mains, Ardgay.

In the Continental cross section steers topped at £1420 for a 435kg Limousin from Clury Farm, Dulain Bridge, while heifers were headed at £920 for a pair of Limousin crosses from Invertromie, Kingussie.

Top steer prices included another from Clury at £1000, with p/kg prices lead at 242.9/kg for one from Glen Gloy Farms and top heifer prices included £865 for on from Lower Milton Farm and £825 for another from Glenurquhart Farm, Cromarty. Topping the heifer p/kg prices was 204.4p/kg for a lightweight heifer from Upper Bogrow.
