Dingwall stores trade to £1170 top

A total of 1249 cattle were forward at Dingwall yesterday for the mart’s anniversary show and sale of store cattle where trade topped at a remarkable £1170 for a 665kg Limousin cross steer from W MacIver and Co. Next best call was £1050 for the pre-sale show champion, a 435kg limousin cross steer from Smallburn Farms, Duffus, Elgin.

Then at £990 was the intermediate steer champion from the show, a Limousin cross from D Grant, Slattadale. The were a raft of other bids above £900, reflecting the quality of the stock on offer, say the auctioneers.

Overall the 731 steers on offer levelled at 185.8p/kg and the 518 heifers averaged out at 178.6p/kg, up 30.2p/kg and 32p/kg on the year, respectively.
